Audition Technique / Business of Acting Workshop

There are actors who made choices that were on-target; while some took a couple more reading to get to where he/she needs to be. Unfortunately, I do not the luxury of time to work with an actor at an audition session, after a second or third reading, I have to move onto the next talent. Therefore, some actor did not get to show his/her capability within a 10-15 minutes audition session.

It’s a combination of:

Preparation – How well the actor prepares the audition sides. Develop an instinct on interpreting and delivering different types of genre and style. Truly understands the material.

Experience - Know how to audition On-Camera; How to ‘sell’ your ability within 2-3 pages of sides. How to ‘work’ the camera, etc.

Level of Comfort –The more auditions an actor has been on, it builds up the comfort level. Once the nerve is out of the way, the delivery will be more natural; and able to ease into taking adjustments.

Once a year, I offer FREE Audition Technique / Business of Acting workshop at the end of the year. The purpose of the workshop is to provide information to actors who are new to the acting career. Selected actors whom I have worked with in the past will also be invited to attend.

The workshop usually starts with Q&A about the Business of Acting. I’d be happy to answer any questions the actors have. This would also include Headshot/Resume reviews. Afterwards, we will go into mock-auditions, where each actor will have the opportunity to do their TV/Film sides (2 pages max).
